Kolkata: Renowned filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh died at his south Kolkata residence this morning. He was 49.
The National Award winner was suffering from pancreatitis and died of a heart attack at 7.30 am, his family said.
He is credited with many critically acclaimed and National Award-winning films like Dahan, Utsab, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, Dosor, The Last Lear, Shob Charitro, Kalponik and Abohoman. He won the Best Director National Award for Abohoman last year. He has also won many international honours.

As news of his death spread, many film actors and actresses thronged his residence to pay their last respects.
State Commerce and Industry minister Partha Chatterjee also visited his home this morning.
